What We Build

Built for Arizona outdoor living.

Patios, Pavers & Decks
Travertine, concrete, flagstone, and porcelain pavers installed on a proper base that handles Arizona's expansive soil and monsoon drainage. We design for both curb appeal and long-term durability — no cracking, no settling, no callbacks.
Pergolas, Ramadas & Shade Structures
Freestanding and attached pergolas, aluminum lattice ramadas, solid-roof covered patios, and custom shade structures — engineered for Phoenix-area wind loads and permitted correctly. We build what your city inspector wants to see, not just what looks good in a photo.
Outdoor Kitchens & Fire Features
BBQ islands, outdoor bars, kegerators, and built-in grills paired with fire pits, gas fire features, and water elements. We tie in gas lines, electrical, and plumbing with licensed trades — one contract, one crew, no coordination headaches.

Designed for Arizona.
Built to last.

Most outdoor projects fail because they're designed for temperate climates and dropped into the desert. We spec every material for 115° summers, monsoon drainage, and caliche soil — which means your patio won't crack after the first wet season.

We're a licensed KB-2 contractor (ROC#335649), which means we can pull structural permits, tie in electrical and gas, and build the kind of outdoor kitchens and covered structures that require a real contractor — not just a landscaper with a saw.

Every project starts with a written estimate — materials, labor, scope, and timeline locked in before a single shovel goes in the ground. No allowance games, no mid-project surprises.

What's Included

Full scope, one crew.

Every Cosmo hardscape project is managed in-house. We handle design, demo, base prep, trades coordination, and final finish — no piecemeal subcontracting.

Design & Layout
We design your outdoor space around how you use it — traffic flow, shade orientation, view lines, and privacy. Scaled layout drawings are included with your written estimate so you can visualize the finished project before committing.
Permits & Inspections
Covered structures, outdoor kitchens with gas lines, and retaining walls all require permits in most East Valley cities. We pull every permit the project requires and schedule inspections — it's part of the job, not an add-on fee.
Trade Coordination
Gas, electrical, plumbing, and masonry are all managed under one contract. You call one number. No chasing separate trades, no gaps in scheduling, no one blaming each other when something doesn't line up.

Hardscape & outdoor FAQ.

How much does a patio or outdoor living space cost in the East Valley?

A basic paver patio runs $8–$18 per square foot installed, depending on material and base prep. A mid-range covered patio with pavers, a pergola, and lighting typically comes in at $25,000–$55,000. A full outdoor kitchen with gas, electrical, built-in grill, fire feature, and covered structure can range from $45,000–$100,000+. Cosmo provides a detailed written estimate before any commitment.

Do I need a permit to build a patio cover or pergola in Arizona?

It depends on the city and the structure. Freestanding shade sails and simple open lattice under a certain square footage often don't require a permit. Attached covered patios, solid-roof ramadas, any structure with electrical or gas, and retaining walls over 30" typically do. We know the rules for every East Valley city and pull all required permits as part of our process.

What paving materials hold up best in Arizona?

Travertine is the most popular choice in the East Valley — it stays cooler underfoot than concrete or dark pavers, drains well, and holds up to freeze-thaw cycles in higher elevations. Concrete pavers and porcelain are also excellent. We avoid materials that absorb heat or become slippery when wet, and we always spec a proper compacted base with drainage to prevent settling during monsoon season.

How long does a hardscape project take?

A standard paver patio or pergola typically runs 2–4 weeks from start to finish. An outdoor kitchen or full backyard transformation with multiple elements — covered structure, gas fire feature, built-in kitchen — usually takes 6–10 weeks. We give you a project timeline in writing before work begins.
