Hardscape & Outdoor Living · East Valley, AZ
Patios, pergolas, pavers, fire features, and outdoor kitchens — built for the way people actually live in Arizona. Cosmo turns unused outdoor space into your favorite room in the house.
What We Build
Our Approach
Most outdoor projects fail because they're designed for temperate climates and dropped into the desert. We spec every material for 115° summers, monsoon drainage, and caliche soil — which means your patio won't crack after the first wet season.
We're a licensed KB-2 contractor (ROC#335649), which means we can pull structural permits, tie in electrical and gas, and build the kind of outdoor kitchens and covered structures that require a real contractor — not just a landscaper with a saw.
Every project starts with a written estimate — materials, labor, scope, and timeline locked in before a single shovel goes in the ground. No allowance games, no mid-project surprises.
What's Included
Every Cosmo hardscape project is managed in-house. We handle design, demo, base prep, trades coordination, and final finish — no piecemeal subcontracting.

Common Questions
A basic paver patio runs $8–$18 per square foot installed, depending on material and base prep. A mid-range covered patio with pavers, a pergola, and lighting typically comes in at $25,000–$55,000. A full outdoor kitchen with gas, electrical, built-in grill, fire feature, and covered structure can range from $45,000–$100,000+. Cosmo provides a detailed written estimate before any commitment.
It depends on the city and the structure. Freestanding shade sails and simple open lattice under a certain square footage often don't require a permit. Attached covered patios, solid-roof ramadas, any structure with electrical or gas, and retaining walls over 30" typically do. We know the rules for every East Valley city and pull all required permits as part of our process.
Travertine is the most popular choice in the East Valley — it stays cooler underfoot than concrete or dark pavers, drains well, and holds up to freeze-thaw cycles in higher elevations. Concrete pavers and porcelain are also excellent. We avoid materials that absorb heat or become slippery when wet, and we always spec a proper compacted base with drainage to prevent settling during monsoon season.
A standard paver patio or pergola typically runs 2–4 weeks from start to finish. An outdoor kitchen or full backyard transformation with multiple elements — covered structure, gas fire feature, built-in kitchen — usually takes 6–10 weeks. We give you a project timeline in writing before work begins.
